Stylist Picks: Barnyard Bride

Hello Gorgeous!

I will admit that these are my all-time favorite posts to write. Maybe its because at the end of the day I’m just a sucker for bridal gowns or maybe I have a thing for playing favorites … ha … Either way, here are the stylist picks for a barnyard  or country wedding.

Ball Gown

Pippa from Blush by Hayley Paige

Pippa is a pheonomenal gown and an archetype of Hayley Paige’s designs.

She is flirty fun and princess-y but has a good done of rustic charm or bohemian flare depending on how you wear her. Head over to my post dedicated to Pippa for more info.

ALine

Ella Rosa style BE400.  Another brand new gown to Bitsy Bridal and one that I am loving! Beautifully detailed bodice and a skirt that has just enough volume to be fun without getting in the way.  Strap details and a scalloped neckline add to the interest.

Column

Matie from Kelly by Kelly Faetanini. Slim fit, flowing gown with thin straps and lace details.  Matie is one of those gowns where the fit is right on the edge between ALine and Column.

Soft chiffon and a mock basque waist line slim the hips without adding volume.

Fit to Flare

Tara Keely 2450.

This is a tried and true style from Tara Keely.  Venise lace sleeves and bodice paired with a crepe skirt are a very demure combo. The wide, plunging neckline is incredibly daring. The combo makes for a mesmerizing gown.  The skirt is straight cut but due to the train and the fabric it falls into a soft flare which lands it in Fit-to-Flare territory over Column.

Crepe is the most difficult fabric to wear as it is the most unforgiving. It is comfortable as it acts like a second skin but not the best choice for summer weddings since it isn’t the most breathable.

Trumpet/Mermaid

Tara Keely 2751.  Unlike 2450, this is a brand new design from Tara Keely. We had this dress in store for a trunk show a couple months ago and are insanely excited to get it back in store as part of our collection. It should be arriving any day now!

Chantilly lace in a beautifully rustic gold color lays atop this trumpet gown from top to bottom.  Spaghetti straps fall into a plunging neckline and V back reaching to or almost to the natural waistline which is marked by a gold ribbon.  This gown is remarkably simple yet full of texture and interest.

Final Thoughts

I can just envision a pair of funky cow boy boots peeking out from under Pippa or BE400. And Matie or either Tara Keely gown would look fantastic in silhouette against the sunset in a field or in a candle lit barn.  If a barn wedding isn’t your style, take a look back at the Stylist Picks for backyard, city, and temple weddings.

Check back for later installments including tropical weddings and garden weddings.

A Bitsy Bridal Anniversary!

Hello Gorgeous!

Bitsy Bridal is officially a year old! We have been serving local and out-of-state brides since July 2016 and the time has gone by insanely quickly.

Realizing we hit the year mark has made us start to reminisce about our beginnings. The very first of our Bitsy Bridal styled shoots was a collaboration with a venue that we are lucky enough to have just across the street: Cactus and Tropicals. Most of our styled shoots feature one or two gowns but as our debut into the bridal community, this shoot feature several gowns from our original collection.

The Bitsy Bridal girls and HMUA team prepping for the shoot.

Our photographer and AMAZING models did such a stellar job showing off our beautiful gowns.

The design at Cactus and Tropicals was spectacular!  Such a gorgeous, earthy background for a fun summer shoot.

These shoots may look like a piece of cake ….. hehe…..  but in reality they are the culmination of many people putting in 14-18 hour days. Artists putting their hearts and souls into their work and dress experts like us agonizing for hours over keeping a $3,000 dress made of silk mikado out of the dirt. It’s pure chaos and it feels like it will never end, but it is 100% worth it when you see the finished product.

Since this was our first shoot, all hands were on deck! Look at our rock star Operations Manager, Pam, running to take care of business!

This shoot was such a good start to our first year. It was a ton of fun and  truthfully that is what we are about. Having a good time and getting the bride her dream dress: whatever it takes!

As always ladies, much love!

Until next time,

Becca

Get your Girly on with Kelly by Kelly Faetanini

Hello Gorgeous!

I walked in to work on Friday and legitimately did a happy dance. I am not just saying that: I dropped my purse and started grooving to music only I could hear. Why? Because I saw this beauty:

Meet IDELLA! This gorgeous design from Kelly by Kelly Faetanini has been haunting my dreams ever since she was cruelly ripped from the store a few months ago. We were lucky enough to have her in the boutique for a trunk show but we only just got her in permanently. Joining Idella are 4 other dresses that we carefully picked to join our collection, all from Kelly by Kelly Faetanini.

K by KF is an amazing line that I am head-over-heels in love with. It is unashamedly girly, sophisticated, and daring.

I’m so in love <3<3

Check out our other designs from Kelly by Kelly Faetanini!

Olive

Cap sleeves on a wide v neck with a sheer plunging back add an extra element of sophistication to this column alencon lace gown

 Blanche

Elegant beading adorns the bodice while the illusion bateau neckline and keyhole back add whimsy. A full bodied handkerchief style skirt is the perfect balance.

 Matie

Slim flowing gown with v neck and scooped back. Laced bodice fades to soft skirt.

Idella

Beaded applique on the bodice gives way to a fitted Chantilly lace skirt.

Elsie

Fit and flare silhouette in rum-pink with lace applique on the illusion shoulders and back

The girls at Bitsy have been anticipating the arrival of these gowns for months and we are so excited they are here so we can show them to all of you wonderful brides!

Our collection is growing, getting more diverse and more amazing every day. Make your appointment to come see for yourself.

Until next time!

5 Things to Remember When Searching for Your Perfect Gown

Hello Gorgeous!

My name is Becca, I am part of the team here at Bitsy Bridal.  You’ll “meet” Morgan in her upcoming posts.

As bridal consultants we get asked all sorts of questions. One of the most common is “How Do I Know When I’ve Found My Dress?”

Truthfully, everyone reacts differently, there’s no formula or easy answer I can give you. I can, however,  tell you 5 things you should keep in the back of your mind while searching for your gown.

1- Don’t wait for tears

PC Brushfire   Gown by Alyne

Like I said, everyone reacts differently. Don’t go in with the expectation that the gown which makes you cry is your gown. Not everyone cries, it’s actually more rare than you would think. Crying is great though – bring on the feels.

2- You will react like you

PC Brushfire  Gown by Alyne

Your personality is not going to change. If you are analytical and fact based, your decision will likely be based on facts about the dress. If you are intuitive and emotional…. Well you get the picture.

3- It’s YOUR reaction that matters

PC Brushfire Gown by Alyne

Don’t get caught up in what everyone else thinks. It’s YOUR dress. You need to love it. I cannot tell you how many brides I have had come in and buy a second dress (either for the same wedding or another) and tell me they hated their first dress because they bought the one everyone else loved. Don’t be like these brides.

4- You WILL know, but it may not be instantaneous

PC Brushfire Gown by Tara Keely

Feel free to try on more dresses to compare. Get in and out of your favorite five times if you need to so you can be sure. But, you will know!

5- Feel free to mull it over

PC Brushfire Gown by Tara Keely

Sometimes, you need to take a breath, go to lunch, in rare cases even sleep on it. Feel free to do that. Look at the pictures, if your shop lets you take pictures (Bonus! At Bitsy we encourage photos!).  If you can’t stop thinking about it- if you still want it when you aren’t in it – then you know you’ve found your perfect dress.

I’ve watched these patterns emerge over appointments with hundreds of brides and I still love watching each woman find her perfect gown.  Finding your gown should be a great experience, which is why we at Bitsy we put so much effort in to focusing on the bride and her needs.

If you have questions or maybe you had a unique moment when you found your gown, sound off in the comments, we’d love to hear from you!
