Our Bride Maiya

Meet our Bitsy Bride, Maiya.

This beautiful bride wore “Pepper” from Blush by Hayley Paige. Blush expresses the same designs that Hayley Paige is known for, but at a more cost effective price point. Pepper fits the mold of being edgy, but with classic bridal vibes.

Pepper features a bodice made from Hayley Paige’s gorgeous Marrakesh beading fabric. The sweetheart neckline and low back have a scalloped detail that gives a feminine look. The straps are a delicate spaghetti strap that run into the low V-shaped back. The ivory Marrakesh beading stops at the natural waist and then is followed by a full tulle skirt. This tulle is cut into cascading layers and edged with horsehair trim.

Maiya decided to keep Pepper in its original form. However, the sample gown she purchased was several sizes too big for her. She worked with our in-house alterations team to resize this gown and have it fit her perfectly. During this process, we needed to take in the bodice by several inches. This task required our seamstress to bring it in and rematch the beading patterns. This gave the gown a finished look, and masked the fact that this gown was once too large. Once the bodice fit her correctly, we were able to focus on hemming the gown to her height. Maiya opted to not add anymore details to her gown.

Maiya had multiple photographers capture her beautiful gown, including Shaylei Halling Photography during her Arches shoot and Madison Rogers Photography during her Oregon shoot. Take a look at how incredible both of these locations are and how stunning Maiya looks.

Our Bride Bryndi

Meet our Bitsy Bride, Bryndi

This beautiful bride wore “Rosalind” by Ella Rosa. The Ella Rosa collection is designed by Kenneth Winston, and his elegant flair shines through. Rosalind is stunning combination of two well known features in bridal and becomes a beautiful lace and beaded wedding gown.

Rosalind features corded Alencon Lace over a layer of Chantilly Lace. The Alencon Lace begins as a heavy lace on the bodice and trickles down the skirt to show off the Chantilly lace underneath. This breath-taking double layer of lace is a showstopper in any venue or setting. However, this style is breathtaking in Bryndi’s Log Haven venue. Rosalind’s v-neckline has a sweetheart lining that will compliment all brides and their best assets. The stunning low back shows off a see-through layer of lace that gives the illusion of a larger open back. The spaghetti straps of this gown bring a delicate feeling to the construction of Rosalind. Finally, the details on this gown are stunning! The beading is placed throughout the top layer, and sparkles in all angles. The buttons down the back finish off the entire look. This beaded wedding gown is one-of-a-kind in its details and construction.

Bryndi decided to keep Rosalind in its original form. However, she worked with our in-house alterations to get this gown to fit her perfectly. Our alterations team’s talents range from a complete build up to a nip and tuck. Any bride can find what they are looking for during our in-house alterations.

Aubree Belle Photography did an incredible job at capturing this bride and her gown in this couple’s Log Haven venue. Take a look at this beautiful couple!

Our Brides Caitlin and Lauraine

Meet our Bitsy Brides, Caitlin and Lauraine.

Both of these stunning brides wore gowns from Ella Rosa by Kenneth Winston. Ella Rosa is designed by Kenneth Winston and includes the sparkle and attention to detail found in his couture collection. Lauraine wore “Riley” and Caitlin wore “Rosalind”. These brides came in separately to pick their gowns to keep them a surprise from one another. However, they both unknowingly decided on the same designer!

Riley is a ballgown that features a sweetheart neckline and ruched bodice. The satin belt sits around the natural waist to emphasize the smallest part of a bride. This belt is accompanied by a beaded floral design. The English Netting gives this gown a romantic feel and allows for a lot of movement. Buttons down the length of the gown finish off the look of Riley. Lauraine chose a light gold color, but Riley is also available in traditional ivory.

Rosalind is a fitted gown that features a double layer of lace. The top layer is an Alencon lace that begins heavy in the bodice and trickles down the skirt. The next layer is a Chantilly lace that brings a sense of romance and delicacy to the look. Rosalind’s v-neckline has a sweetheart lining that will flatter all bust sizes. The stunning low back shows off a see-through layer of lace that gives the illusion of a larger open back. Finally, Rosalind has some incredible detail to finish off the look. The beading throughout the gown allows for a little bit of glimmer without being too overpowering. Also, the buttons down the back give a similar feel to Riley, but stop mid-skirt to compliment the fit of the gown.

Jadie Jo Photography did a fantastic job at capturing these brides in their gowns on their special day.

Our Bride Kristie

Meet our Bitsy Bride, Kristie.

This radiant bride wore “Cedra” by Aire Barcelona. This designer does a beautiful job at creating timeless pieces with a bit of Spanish flair, and this blush ballgown is a great example of this.

Cedra is a show stopper as a light blush ballgown. This dress features pleats in the waist that give the skirt a dimensional look. The off-the-shoulder neckline highlights the femininity of the bride, while the gentle dip in the back shows a more sensual side. Cedra has a few small fabric buttons that run the length of the bodice and stop just above the pleated skirt. This gown has the hidden detail of pockets! This pockets provide options for a beautiful photo opportunity, or to place to put your small accessories. A beaded floral belt finishes this unique look.

Take a peek at the original belt for Cedra.

Here is also a look at the back of this amazing wedding gown.

Kristie chose to keep this dress in its original form, but did opt for a larger belt to bring more sparkle to the look. This belt was matched with the same fabric and material as the gown, so it created a seamless look. She worked with our alterations team to fit this gown to her perfectly. Our in-house alterations services can range from a complete modest build up to a simple hem. Each bride has the freedom to customize her wedding look.

K Ell Photography did a stunning job at capturing Kristie during her bridal shoot at the Utah State Capitol. Take a look at how beautiful she looks in this gown.

Our Bride Taylor

Meet our Bitsy Bride, Taylor.

This beautiful bride wore Portia by Kelly Faetanini. This New York designer’s talent ranges from sleek and elegant to whimsical and edgy. No matter your taste, you can find a gown in one of Kelly’s stunning collections.

Portia features black Chantilly lace covering the bodice and creating delicate long sleeves. The plunging v-neckline is complemented with illusion mesh and black satin trimming. The ivory satin skirt pops against the darkness of the bodice and creates a chic look. Fabric buttons that transition color down the back finishes this stunning gown. Portia also comes in an ivory option for more of a traditional look.

Although Taylor opted to keep Portia in its original form, she worked with our seamstress and our in-house alterations to get this gown to fit like a glove. Taylor wanted a little bit of sparkle in this classic gown and added a jeweled belt to this look.

Kristina Curtis Photography did a brilliant job at capturing this beauty and her gown in their Park City venue.

Our Bride Cleo

Meet our Bitsy Bride, Cleo.

This breathtaking bride wore Style 2107 by Mikaella. This designer is based out of Toronto, Canada and does the simple elegance look with ease. Mikaella is also extremely easy to work with for customized options.

Cleo opted to keep this gown in its original form, but still worked with our in-house alterations to make it fit her like a glove. This all crepe gown is a fit to flare silhouette and features a plunging v-neckline. The straps separate into several smaller spaghetti straps on the back. This beautiful gown has a center slit in the front and fabric covered buttons that follow the length of the dress. Style 2107 originally comes with a smaller, detachable belt. However, Cleo decided to go for a larger beaded belt from the designer to complete the look.

Designer Highlight: Hayley Paige

Hayley Paige: The Rising Star of Bridal

Hayley’s one of a kind designs put her above the rest!

Ah Miss Hayley Paige! The girl with it all! Two amazing bridal lines, a TV show, wedding athleisure wear, her own app, and more!  Even though her popularity has skyrocketed since her debut and partnership with JLM, it hasn’t affected the integrity of her designs. She continues to be an innovative and forward designer in the industry. We want to highlight one of our favorite gowns from her Blush line. Meet Halo.

Hayley‘s designs are always intricate and innovative.  With gowns like Halo, she uses various layers of tulle and horsehair trim to give volume and dimension. She also puts the layers on the outside of her skirts, unlike most ballgowns that carry the volume underneath a patterned layer of fabric. Her ballgowns have a beautiful type of asymmetry that makes them stand apart from your standard ballgowns.

Hayley has also embraced the trend of dark under light.  By putting a darker nude or champagne color underneath a light ivory lace, it catches the eye and makes the lace pop! She does this with both lace and with her one-of-a-kind Marrakesh beading  in her Delta and West gowns.

Kudos to Mary Jessica who took these stunning photos!

Hayley is one of a kind and her gowns are guaranteed to make you look and feel fabulous and trendy! We hope you have loved our Halo gown. If this isn’t isn’t your jam, check out our other designer highlight for some more inspiration! Call or book online to try on some of Hayley’s new 2018 collection.

Chocolate and Class

A Period Wedding with Some Chocolate

“All I need is love and chocolate.”

This wedding has me all sorts of ways! This bride really embraced the classics, with a black and white theme, a 1936 Cadillac, fedoras, and a plethora of roses. You are really taken back in time!

To top it off, this gorgeous wedding took place at Taste, a local chocolate shop in Provo that does gourmet chocolate tastings and produces their own chocolate. (Talk about good taste!)

Not only is the decor in this wedding absolutely stunning, but the dress is a showstopper too! This gown is a gorgeous Tulle New York design. It’s made with an amazing natural silk that has a crisp texture and an elegant feel. This mermaid style really flatters the figure, and is a timeless shape to match the rest of the wedding.

Photographer Ashley Hawkeye did a fabulous job of showcasing the smooth and crisp nature of the gown and the classy atmosphere of the space!

Our blog has featured quite a few different takes on the classy look, but there are so many ways to create an elegant and chic style all your own. The addition of chocolate and warmer tones makes this an extraordinary take on a common theme. The gown also has a unique flare to it that helps it stand apart from the typical mermaid shaped gowns!

We love showcasing our wonderful brides and their fabulous weddings. If you can’t get enough class in your life, check out our other post about modern classics! So and So that this editorial got featured on Utah Valley Bride.

Don’t forget to stop back for more looks at creative weddings and gowns. Call or book online to try on gowns like this from our collection. While you’re at it, reward yourself with some good chocolate. You deserve it. 😉

Til next time!

Why are Designer Wedding Dresses so Expensive?

All about what makes a gown so pricey

A question I get from many brides and their mothers is, “Why is this dress so expensive?” Some brides are shocked when they find out that a gown with little-to-no detailing costs more than the gown with all of the tulle and beading in the world. Here is a breakdown of the 4 things that go into making an expensive designer gown. Hopefully, this can help clear up some confusion about gown prices.

DETAILING

As mentioned before, sometimes the detailing isn’t the most costly aspect of a gown – but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t contribute to the overall price.

There are many different types of lace, beading, appliqués, and shimmer. All of them can vary in complexity and quality. If a dress has designer-unique detailing, like this caviar beaded gown from Tara Keely, it is going to be more expensive.

The same goes for lace and other detailing.

Style 2810 Tara Keely by Lazaro bridal gown - Ivory beaded floral and chevron modified A-line bridal gown, illusion V neckline, open back with dual crystal straps and chapel train.

FABRIC

Fabric is one of the bigger factors that plays into the price of a gown. Polyester tends to be a cheaper fabric than silk crepe or silk chiffon.

So why isn’t everything made in polyester, or other cheaper fabrics? The simplest answer is that different fabrics create very different looks, and frame your shape in different ways.

For example, silk crepe by Mikaella is a natural fiber that hugs the body, and drapes in a way that no other fabric does. The fabric is one of the first signs of high quality. The quality of the fabric definitely determines the price.

DESIGN

Something that not everyone considers when looking at a gown is the designing that goes into it. To create the unique shape and fit of a gown, a lot of time and thought must be put into the design.

More expensive gowns will have a more calculated pattern that deliberately showcases certain aspects of the figure. This is especially apparent in minimalist styles, like those by Amsale.

Remember, “less is more,” but less is more difficult than it looks. Every line and seam in the dress is purposefully placed to create the effortless-looking shape that you love. The time and talent of our designers is very valuable, and truly transforms a gown, from a blob of fabric to a work of art.

DESIGNER

Last, and certainly not least, is the designer. Every designer has their own invaluable style and creativity. However, much like other areas of fashion, the name behind the creativity is important too.

Because designers like Lazaro and Hayley Paige have made such a big splash in the bridal world with their designs and innovation, they can charge more for their gowns.

There is nothing more amazing than hearing that someone was able to purchase a gown from THE designer. The status of the designer is another factor that can lead to a gown being more expensive.

Style 3814 Lazaro bridal gown - Ivory silver checkered net bridal gown, sculpted V-neckline with crystal beaded strap, natural waist, A-line skirt with side pockets, chapel train.

Style 1802 Kona Blush by Hayley Paige bridal gown - Ivory draped chiffon A-line bridal gown, sweetheart neckline with beaded strap accent, draped cut out back detail, flowing chiffon skirt with slit.

Hopefully this can shed a bit of light on how gowns get so expensive. When it comes down to it, the quality and craftsmanship determines the price.

It’s always a good idea to keep this in mind when planning your wedding, and thinking about how you want to feel and look in your gown without breaking your bank.

If you want to check out our beautiful, high quality gowns, call or book online to come in and try out our collection. Don’t forget to check back for some more tips! While you wait for next time, check out our post on Alteration Terms, for when you find the dress of your dreams!

June: Dress of the Month

Summer is here and so is our Dress of the Month!

With the month of June comes a new shop favorite!

This month, we are showcasing a gown from the fabulous line, Alyne by Rita Vinieris! This gown is perfect for the summer months. It’s figure flattering without being too heavy, and it has the perfect amount of sleeve for an outdoor wedding. The talented Lindsey Shaun did such a beautiful job capturing the details of this gown!

This dress comes in ivory (as pictured), as well as a beautiful deep nude color that really makes the overlying lace pop!  Both colors are stunning in their own ways. The ivory version of this gown is perfect for the summer because the the coloring isn’t too heavy or deep, and it catches the bright summer sunshine beautifully!

This dress has a gentle mermaid fit with a moving waistline, which creates an elegant silhouette while still hugging the figure in the most flattering ways.

The lace detailing on this gown is absolutely stunning! It has a very unique patterning that sets it apart from your standard lace, and gives it a bit of an edge.

May: Dress of the Month

May your Wedding be Bright and Beautiful!

This romantic gown may just melt your heart!

This May we are showcasing an absolutely dazzling gown by Christos! This light and effervescent gown is the perfect dress to celebrate spring. The delicate tulle and lace perfectly capture the gentle beauty of spring.

Christos is a master of fabrics and design. Each of their gowns feel light as a feather and look amazing without being see through or baggy.  This is very surprising for a ball gown of this size that usually requires a lot of thick and heavy linings to get to just the right level of poof.

This gown is the epitome of romance with its delicate lace detailing through the front and the back. The photographer, Lauren Bledsoe, did such a beautiful job capturing this in these fabulous pictures!  Don’t be fooled by this gown! It may seem paper thin and easily damaged, but this gown can definitely hold its own and take a hit or two without looking completely ruined.

If you love this amazing delicacy of a gown give us a call or book an appointment online. We love showing off our fabulous designers like Christos! If this gown didn’t quite capture your fancy, check out our previous gown of the month. It may just peak your interest!  From sparkle and shine to lovely and lacy we have the gown of your dreams just waiting for you!

May your wedding plans bring you here!
