So, you are a bride who needs her gown modest. Everywhere you go you see the same thing over and over, and think to yourself “Why does it all look the same and why can’t being modest look awesome?”
Well, I am here to tell you that we make it awesome with our fabulous alteration team! Let me show you!
This gown is called Idella by our beloved Kelly Faetanini and it is absolutely stunning, but for those who need it modest its not exactly ideal. Our fantastic alteration team did a fabulous job at building up this gown to keep is gorgeous nature with just a bit more coverage.
Who says modesty can’t be dazzling!? We brought the hand beaded detailing up through the back and into the cap sleeve and filled in the more see-though front of the gown. Alisha Hammond did an amazing job at capturing all of the beautiful and seamless detailing we used in her photography!
This is just a one example of the amazing work our alteration team has done for modest brides, and what they can do for you! If you’re loving Kelly Faetanini and her fabulous gowns we have highlighted in our recent blog posts, like the one about wedding colors, then don’t worry about modesty! Kelly has decided to design and create modest tops just for us and our beautiful brides!

One of the first things we mention to brides when color is a concern is that we don’t carry white. For clarity’s sake, the white that most people think of is purest of white colors as Bright White. Bright White has a blue undertone, which is what gives it such crispness. It also causes a blue hue in photographs so be aware of that.
Knowing the difference between white, ivory and other gown colors will make your shopping experience easier. So we’re going to break it down for you!Let’s keep it simple and break it into 4 categories: Ivory Family, Blush Family, Nude Family, Adventurous Colors.
**note: Bright White is not in any of these families, it is a family all its own and we do not carry these gowns at Bitsy Bridal.
Ivory is a “catch-all” color. Anything that is white or off-white to the naked eye but isn’t actually white. Most often, ivory will have a warm undertone of yellow or brown which is what makes it so much more appealing than Bright White.
Other names that designers will use for their ivory gowns include: natural, off white, soft white, beige. Some designers will have a dress available in ivory and beige – both are versions of ivory just with different undertones or in a darker/lighter shade. These photos feature gowns by Christos and Alyne by Rita Vinieris.
Technically, blush is the lightest of pinks- almost undetectable and very light. But lately blush tends to describe any dress that looks pink. There are a numerous color names for various shades that really just boil down to being called blush.
Many people are afraid that blush doesn’t look “as bridal” as something from the nude or ivory family, but rest assured it photographs beautifully and is a fantastic way to make a statement while still being a bride! Check out our recent post featuring the color blush! In these photos we’re featuring (from the top down) Sareh Nouri, Tara Keely, and Saphia Blue.
Within the nude family we have Mocha, Champagne, Nude, Cashmere, and Cafe. Essentially these all have a brown or tan tone to them. Similar to ivory but much more saturated so there is no way they can be considered “off-white”.
Cashmere, Mocha, and Cafe are essentially the same color just different names used by different designers. This color is a bit darker than Champagne but still holds on to the soft “milky” quality. Nude is the darkest and is meant to look like tanned skin. We showcased the first photo in a post here, the second gown is one our favorite Tara Keely gowns, and of course Lazaro brings up the rear with his dazzling piece that we took up to Park City.
These are gowns that are anything but ordinary! From black, to lavender, to gold and grey, and the now trendy blue! These colors will really make a bride stand apart from the crowd without looking like she is going to the prom!
My current favorite is our beautiful Star by Kelly Faetenini! Grey and blue are hot colors for bridal right now, so if you’re a bride with a bold side come and try on our Star! The other gowns showcased in this post are also by Kelly Faetenini and Sareh Nouri who are a part of our exclusive collection.
Hopefully this helped break down the confusing world of bridal fabric colors. Don’t forget to check back with us for more info to help your bridal experience! If you want to make an appointment to try on some gorgeous gowns of all colors call us or make an appointment online!
This month we are showcasing a dress that really stands apart from the rest! We say that about every gown, I know, but this one is definitely one of a kind. This beautiful shoot was done by Kristina Curtis.
This gown has a gorgeous mocha color that makes it stand a part from your standard ivory dress. This gown also reminds me of a Greek Goddess, and this look is elevated by the addition of gold jewelry and headband. It’s exotic nature really separates it from your standard look.
The asymmetrical off the shoulder is so chic and dynamic and adds to the exotic look of the gown. I really admire the risks that this gown takes and how it pushes boundaries on what is standard for wedding dresses.
We have loved show casing our dress of the month! Check out our favorites from January and February! This bride really rocked one of our personal favorites from the Ella Rosa line. If this designer can do anything its provide a fit that will make you look and feel fantastic on your special day! The photographer, Megan Robinson, was able to capture this beautifully!
The unique flower appliques against the champagne fabric really make this dress pop! Kenneth Winston and Ella Rosa gowns give traditional silhouettes and shapes a chic and modern flare that make them a prime candidate for the millennial bride looking for tradition with a twist. With a Kenneth Winston gown you can be sure that yours is one of a kind since they are exclusive to Bitsy here in Utah!

We have the pleasure of showcasing a trunk show from Marina Semone from January 26th to February 4th!
Trunk shows are always super fun for everyone! We love getting to try out these fabulous gowns and showing amazing brides something a little new and different! Check out some of these fantastic finds from Semone’s collection!
Our last trunk show with Claire Le Faye was absolutely fantastic with their “luxury with an edge” look, but with Marina Semone you can experience a romantic look inspired by climbing vines, hidden trails, and abandoned ruins. These elegant gowns are perfect for a bride who wants a vintage inspired look with a dash modern flair!
We adore these wispy romantic looks, and we can’t wait to see them on real brides!! Give us a call, or visit us here to book an appointment when the trunk show comes in so you can try these gorgeous gowns on!
Anyone else wishing that Fall Colors would get here a little faster? I mean who doesn’t want to be a real life meme by curling up on their couch with a pumpkin spiced latte and a cozy blanket.
I am just aching for sweater weather and knee-high boots. Are you wistful for crisp cool air and changing leaves like me? Then take a look at this gorgeous styled shoot. It features one of our favorite model, Jordan Blackhurst. Several of our shoots featured her lovely work.
This shoot is unique in that it is outdoors but maintains the simplicity of an indoor, industrial shoot. The colors are incredible and I just can’t get over the use of light.
This beautiful mocha colored gown is from the Tara Keely line – designed by Lazaro. The chunky lace on the bodice is offset by a skirt of soft organza.
With a plunging neckline and open back, this dramatic gown is not for the faint of heart.
Most people prefer full color photos but I have to admit that I am a sucker for a good black-and-white! I love the details and contrast that you pick up in a colorless image. But, these photos are absolutely gorgeous no matter the color.

One of the privileges of this business is the opportunity to work with amazing photographers and other creatives at every styled shoot we do.
A photographer (one of my favorite if we’re being perfectly honest) did this stunning styled shoot that was recently featured in a national blog. I love how she allowed the dress and the beautiful bride, aka model, to shine and everything else just fell into the background.
Take a look for yourself and tell me what you think.
In May, we were lucky enough to host a trunk show for one of the favorite bridal lines among stylists and Bitsy Brides: Tara Keely. Part of the JLM design house and designed by Lazaro Perez, Tara Keely is for the sophisticated and timeless bride who is not afraid to make a statement.
The new season is To. Die. For. The girls here were literally drooling over the newest designs. The official pictures are not out yet but I just couldn’t wait to give you a taste so…. without further ado…. here are five things to expect from the new season of Tara Keely.
Sleeves were a rare luxury among bridal designers over the past several years but they have been making a comeback in the most recent seasons. In my opinion, the JLM design house (which includes Tara Keely) does sleeves better than most. You will find dainty cap sleeves and long, lace, masterpiece sleeves in the newest collection.
2 – Sparkle
If you thought it was impossible to have a sparkled dress without looking like a chandelier or like a 4 year old playing dress up then you have never tried on a gown designed by Lazaro Perez. With cascading waves of sparkle and perfectly placed belts or jewels, each dress with the addition of shine is made with the utmost regard for taste and sophistication.

3 – A-Line Perfection
There is a reason it is the most requested silhouette. ALine gowns flatter nearly every body type. They are feminine and elegant without being hard to manage or overdone. A Line is classic and gives you a lot of wiggle room to show your personality with the gown design, which is exactly what happens with a Tara Keely gown. With a design channeling Princess Diana hanging next to a bohemian beauty, there is a gown for everyone in this collection.
4 – Lush Materials
Tara Keely always has amazing fabrics and finishes but this season is particularly spectacular. I am in love with the use of Silk Shantung I am finding. Shantung is an amazing material with just enough luster and the perfect amount of drape to easily be worn in a formal or whimsical affair.

5 – Bohemian Charm
I am particularly critical of boho-style dresses. Just not my favorite. I will however have to admit that I am drooling over Tara Keely’s bohemian additions to this season.
Get ready ladies, this season is going to be AMAZING!
