Multiple Wedding Gowns?

Thinking of Wearing Multiple Gowns for Your Big Day?

Here are a few tips from us!

Every wedding is different and every bride has their own dreams of what they want it to be like so it makes sense that many women would enjoy having multiple gowns for their big day.  Some choose to have a second gown for their reception that is much easier to celebrate in or fall in love with multiple gowns so they find a way to wear them both. Whatever the reason, make sure it is the right decision for you and you won’t regret it.

If you are wearing multiple gowns because of tradition or culture, most of this post won’t apply.

Why are you wearing a second (or third or fourth) gown?

Do you want something more comfortable for your reception?  Are your settings for ceremony and reception dramatically different? Are you having a second celebration (reception, open house) on a different day? Do you just want two different looks (sexy mermaid and fun loving ballgown)?

A second gown could definitely work for you then! Those are all valid reasons for purchasing two gowns! Check out some of these dramatic differences in these Sareh Nouri gowns!

Are you torn between two gowns and think it will just be easier to get both?

If this is true then I would advise against it. Making a choice is hard and it can be quite the process for some brides, but the choice is worth it. Never settle until you have found the gown you adore!

If you spend money on a second gown will you have the resources to make them both fantastic?

Make sure you don’t stretch yourself too thin as far as funds. You want both gowns to be equally beautiful so be sure that it is in your budget to not only purchase, but also alter both gowns.  Our in house alteration does amazing work! Check out these before and after photos and more about our modest gowns here.

Do you want a “gown” for your second dress?

If you are going super casual for your reception after a formal ceremony or having a low-key open house a week after your wedding then you might consider a sun dress or a simple wedding gown that will cost less and fit the occasion a bit better.  An option like a pantsuit might also fit a more casual occation. This one by Rebecca Schoneveld is one of my favorites!

Do you want separate gowns or a transforming gown?

Consider a two piece gown! Two piece gowns are not only trendy, but comfortable and versatile as well. Having a two piece with different looks might fit your idea for your wedding! My personal favorites are by Mikaella! These gowns have a beautiful fit and incredible comfort! Come in to try them on!

Our Bride Katya

Meet our Bitsy Bride, Katya.

This stunning bride from BYUI wore Idella by Kelly Faetanini. Her gown is one modest masterpiece. The delicate lace skirt was left untouched, but the top is a customized work of art.

This gown began as sleeveless with a v-neckline and matching back. The mesh back of the gown is left unlined to give a natural skin look and the intricate beading tapers off just before the straps begin.

Take a look at how this gown started.

Photos by Kelly Faetanini

Katya lined the entire bodice with matching ivory satin and created a small cap sleeve to create a temple-ready look. She raised the v-neckline and matched the back, but kept the integrity of the original wedding dress design. We added more lace buttons on the back to follow along the raised bodice. We hand-beaded the new additions to the bodice to finish the look.

Alisha Hammond did an amazing job at capturing all of the beautiful and seamless detailing we used in her photography!

Schedule an appointment to see this gown, or discuss what we can do to make your modest dream come true.

March: Dress of the Month

Is This Your Dress?

Showcasing a one of a kind gown from Elaya Vaughn!!

Welcome Back Ladies!!

This month we are showcasing a dress that really stands apart from the rest! We say that about every gown, I know, but this one is definitely one of a kind. This beautiful shoot was done by Kristina Curtis.

This gown has a gorgeous mocha color that makes it stand a part from your standard ivory dress. This gown also reminds me of a Greek Goddess, and this look is elevated by the addition of gold jewelry and headband. It’s exotic nature really separates it from your standard look. If you are looking for something other than your standard ivory dress, check out our post about Bridal Colors to find something unique to you!

The asymmetrical off the shoulder is so chic and dynamic and adds to the exotic look of the gown.  I really admire the risks that this gown takes and how it pushes boundaries on what is standard for wedding dresses. Romantic Blush!

“You’re making me blush!”

White is alright, think pink!

Ivory and white are gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but lately colored gowns are in! Champagne, mocha, cashmere, blue, black, and blush are dazzling colors that can take the cake!

Blush is a trendy and sophisticated statement that can elevate the femininity of a gown and personalize your dress.  What’s fantastic about it is that even in the photos the delicate pink undertones don’t flash or scream at the audience. It just whispers “I’m fun, I’m unique”. This is a beautiful Tara Keely design! They have an outstanding and fun dramatic style that definitely stand apart from the crowd. Check out our other fantastic designers here!

This bride totally rocked this dazzling color and made it her own! This romantic look is balanced with the delicate and fresh decor. Thanks to Stephanie Lorraine for the amazing photos!

When it comes to a gown, what ultimately matters is that you love it, and a dash of color might bring you head over heels for the gown of your dreams!

Give us a call or schedule an appointment here and we can help you find the gown you absolutely adore! We can’t wait to play with color with you!

See you soon, darlings!

February: Dress of the Month

In Love with This Dress?

For February’s dress of the month we are showcasing a gown with delicate and stunning pizzazz from Tulle New York!

Since February is the month celebrating love and romance we decided to give this romantic dress its day in the sun! This gown from Tulle New York’s Antionio Gual line is absolutely stunning!

This gown adores the beautiful breeze that accompanied it on this shoot done by Mary Jessica Photography! If you have an eye for detail you would notice that this dress has adorable and glamorous polka dots on the skirt and gentle sparkles on the bodice. These small details are an eye catching and unique aspect of this gown that set it apart from others.

With a deep v-neck in the front and back, this gown provides a very appealing silhouette to balance the fullness that comes from the skirt. This gown really fits the bride looking for unique detail, light volume, and a flattering cut.

Industrial Elegance

Hello Lovelies!

Time for another styled shoot! This particular shoot was for Utah Bride Blog and featured this lovely gown from Mikaella Bridal.   The addition of a mid-century lounge space, metal accents, and a bright backdrop made the perfect combination for this industrial wedding.

We love Mikaella gowns, and they fit so well for an industrial style wedding! This lovely gem, named Margo, is a crepe dress with an  a-line fit and amazing train. It’s simple elegance really makes this bride shine. Check out some more of our Mikaella gowns if you are drawn to the chic simplicity of this beautiful piece.

We love the simple geometric style this couple used in their wedding! The shapes really bring a modern glam and industrial feel that compliment the gown so beautifully.

Even their cake looks like it is cut from a beautiful slab of marble!  From the lighting to the decor and, more importantly, to the dress, this couple knocked it out of the park as far as the industrial style is concerned!

If you’re loving this look and want to find a gown of your own to compliment this elegant style give us a call or schedule an appointment here and we can discover the gown to elevate your industrial wedding! Special thanks to Jalene Taylor for the amazing photography!

Hope to see you soon darlings!

A Bitsy Bridal Anniversary!

Hello Gorgeous!

Bitsy Bridal is officially a year old! We have been serving local and out-of-state brides since July 2016 and the time has gone by insanely quickly.

Realizing we hit the year mark has made us start to reminisce about our beginnings. The very first of our Bitsy Bridal styled shoots was a collaboration with a venue that we are lucky enough to have just across the street: Cactus and Tropicals. Most of our styled shoots usually feature one or two gowns but as our debut into the bridal community, this shoot feature several gowns from our original collection.

The Bitsy Bridal girls and HMUA team prepping for the shoot.

Getting Ready lipstick jungle

Our photographer and AMAZING models did such a stellar job showing off our beautiful gowns.

overfluffing the train one gorgeous lady oh the plunging neckline The floral design at Cactus and Tropicals was spectacular!  Such a gorgeous, earthy background for a fun summer shoot.

These shoots may look like a piece of cake ….. hehe…..  but in reality they are the culmination of many people putting in 14-18 hour days. Artists putting their hearts and souls into their work and dress experts like us agonizing for hours over keeping a $3,000 dress made of silk mikado out of the dirt. It’s pure chaos and it feels like it will never end, but it is 100% worth it when you see the finished product.

Since this was our first shoot, all hands were on deck! Look at our rock star Operations Manager, Pam, running to take care of business!

This shoot was such a good start to our first year. It was a ton of fun and  truthfully that is what we are about. Having a good time and getting the bride her dream dress: whatever it takes!

As always ladies, much love!

Until next time,

Becca

How to Prepare for Dress Shopping

Bitsy Bridal
PC Smyer Image

Hello Gorgeous!

Shopping for your wedding gown is an amazing experience and most women have no idea what to expect when they get there. Just like the Bitsy Stylists, all  bridal consultants are there to give you the best experience possible. We will do all the heavy lifting. And like any successful interaction, it’s a two way street.

Keep these things in mind as you are preparing to hunt for your perfect gown.

1- Choose your underwear/bra carefully

Mischa by Nouvelle AMSALE (back)
A bright pink bra (or a bra at all) would completely throw off the look of this Nouvelle Amsale gown.
  • Most quality bridal shops don’t carry undergarments for you to wear under the dresses because the gowns are designed to not need a separate bra (usually)
  • If you are uncomfortable going bra-less or if your bust is on the bigger side, then try to wear a strapless bra in white or nude. So it doesn’t interfere with your view of the dress.
  • Spanx are always welcome too.
  • Remember that your stylist will be in the dressing room with you so whatever you wear will be seen

** Note: Your stylist has seen it all, so don’t wear something different just for our sake. Wear what’s best for you.

2- Know the gowns will not fit you perfectly

Stylists are trained to clip dresses so you have a perfect vision of what they will look like on you
  • Unless you are shopping at an off-the-rack store, the gowns you try on are samples. This means there is usually only one – often carried in a middle size.
  • If the dress is too big, we will clamp it (see picture). If the dress is too small, we will use elastic bands and extra fabric to make it worth showing to your friends & family.
  • Any consultant worth their salt will be able to show you how the gown will fit perfectly, regardless of size.

3- Only bring who you have to

A group of 2 or 3 guests is ideal. Gown: Alyne   PC Brushfire
  • Dress shopping gets overwhelming. Having a gazillion opinions flying around only makes it worse.
  • Just bring THE people whose opinions really matter to you. (The people you couldn’t imagine doing this without.) You really can’t please everybody… literally!
  • On the flip side, make sure to bring the people you need. Don’t get caught in your dream gown and your mother or you bff is not there and unreachable.
  • Bitsy Bridal has a free wifi that you can skype or facetime!

4- Please don’t expect your entourage to pull dresses

At Bitsy, we will happily pull any dresses you want to try on. PC: Brushfire
  • Considering the traffic jam in a bridal store and the quality of the gowns; it is standard for the bridal stylists to be the only one to handle the gowns and put them on and off racks.
  • It ensures the integrity of the gowns for all brides.
  • This works in your favor. I can’t count the number of times that after finding the perfect gown for someone, she tells me she never would have picked that gown after seeing it on the hanger.
  • Don’t hesitate to point out what you like. Ask your stylist to walk you through the racks (Same goes for friends and family).
  • Each shop works a little differently but your stylist is all yours for the entire appointment: she will navigate the shop for you.

5- You will get tired: Bring on the Gatorade!

PC Brushfire
  • Wedding gowns are seldom light. Even if you are only trying on the airy ones
made of chiffon, you will get tired from the in and out.
  • If you are making a day of it and hitting multiple shops, schedule breaks and meals so that you + your friends & family can rest and be energized for the next appointment.
  • You might consider packing some sugary snacks to eat between appointments (since no food or drink is allowed in most bridal shops)

    6- Come looking “your” best

    Gown Tara Keely PC Brushfire
  • You will likely not be able to see yourself as a “bride” when you feel like a slob or not feeling fresh or not feeling clean. So, no dresses will feel right.
  • You don’t need to be dolled up for the red carpet, just feel good for yourself: whatever means work for you.

7- Your stylist doesn’t care what dress you choose

  • Don’t edit your praise or criticism of a dress based on a fear of insulting your stylist. She doesn’t have any unnatural attachment to a gown and her only goal is to find you your perfect dress.

It is our job to make your dress hunt an unforgettable experience.  Let us do the heavy lifting.

Just take a few steps to ensure a good time and we’ll handle the rest. One final concept reaches through all these pieces of advice and is something every bride should remember:

This Is About You!

Don’t be afraid to voice your opinion and ask for what you want.

At Bitsy Bridal, we are all about the bride!

-XO Becca
