May: Dress of the Month

May your Wedding be Bright and Beautiful!

This romantic gown may just melt your heart!

This May we are showcasing an absolutely dazzling gown by Christos! This light and effervescent gown is the perfect dress to celebrate spring. The delicate tulle and lace perfectly capture the gentle beauty of spring.

Christos is a master of fabrics and design. Each of their gowns feel light as a feather and look amazing without being see through or baggy.  This is very surprising for a ball gown of this size that usually requires a lot of thick and heavy linings to get to just the right level of poof.

This gown is the epitome of romance with its delicate lace detailing through the front and the back. The photographer, Lauren Bledsoe, did such a beautiful job capturing this in these fabulous pictures!  Don’t be fooled by this gown! It may seem paper thin and easily damaged, but this gown can definitely hold its own and take a hit or two without looking completely ruined.

If you love this amazing delicacy of a gown give us a call or book an appointment online. We love showing off our fabulous designers like Christos! If this gown didn’t quite capture your fancy, check out our previous gown of the month. It may just peak your interest!  From sparkle and shine to lovely and lacy we have the gown of your dreams just waiting for you!

May your wedding plans bring you here!

Some of the Best Things Come in Twos!

A two piece gown can really make a statement and add to your comfort!

Two piece gowns are in! They are chic and comfortable and will definitely make you stand apart from the crowd! Today I want to highlight a couple of gowns from a couple of our favorite designers, Hayley Paige and Mikaella and talk about the look of two piece gowns!

This gown is by the lovely Hayley Paige and her, exclusive to Bitsy, Blush collection! This two piece gown gives you the best of both worlds.  A little bit of poof and some boho lace in the bodice.  With a gown like this you can still feel comfortable while making a bold entrance and a stylish fashion statement.

This two piece gown by Mikaella takes the look in a different direction. With this style you get comfort and class! The gorgeous lace gives you a sense of youth while the bottom skirt hugs your figure and tells the world that you are elegance! The crepe bottom is so breathable and figure flattering that it really take the two piece look to the next level. This gown is also technically a three piece gown! It comes with the lace bodice with a crepe camisole underneath so you can wear lace for the ceremony and then have an adorable all crepe look for the reception!

Bridal Look: Waistlines

Which Waistline Works for You?

A brief guide to what waistlines are out there!

Waistlines are key in helping to create the shape you want, whether that be a ball gown, mermaid, or even a column gown. Experimenting with waistlines in your search can help you find what flatters you and makes you fall in love!

Your basic waistlines are empire, natural, corset, and dropped. All of which can be created in a defined/fitted or moving style. These beautiful Rebecca Schoneveld gowns are a beautiful example of this!

©RachelGomezPhotography-RS2018-look3-24.jpg

Rebecca-Schoneveld-SP18-115.jpg

A defined waistline is just as it sounds: it is defined by a belt, a change in fabric, a seam, etc. A moving waist is the exact opposite, there is still a clear waist but it is defined by the dress’ cut rather than a defining element.

Empire

  • Falls right below the bust line along your ribcage
  • Elongates the body
  • Minimizes a small bust, draws attention to a large bust, flatters a medium sized bust
  • A dress with an empire waist will often (not always) hide your stomach and is sometimes popular for pregnant brides

This Amsale gown really showcases this cut in a modern and chic manner.

  • Slim crepe gown with wide straps and open back.

    Natural

  • Falls at your actual waist: the indent between your hip bone and your ribcage
  • Flattering on most body types
  • Can hide hips and stomach without drawing too much attention to your bust
  • Most gowns will have a natural waist

This Tara Keely gown shows the popular and flattering natural cut!

Style 2810

Corset

This waistline is usually overlooked and lumped into a category with either natural or dropped. But it is very unique.

  • Hits very close to your hip bone
  • Can “cut” a shorter frame and make them look childlike
  • Wonderful if you have long legs and a short torso
  • Shows off a flat stomach
  • Often paired with a corset (lace up) back

This Elizabeth Cooper gown is a good example of the corset look!

E+E Photography

Dropped

  • Hits below your hip bones
  • Shows off shapely waist and hips
  • Lengthens your torso
  • Generally found in ballgowns or fit-and-flare styles

Hayley Paige does a beautiful job showcasing this dropped-waist mermaid!

Style 1801 Fern

Never be afraid to try different waistlines! Who knows! You might run into something you never would have thought of before! Finding a gown in a process so have some fun and and try something new! Multiple Wedding Gowns?

Thinking of Wearing Multiple Gowns for Your Big Day?

Here are a few tips from us!

Every wedding is different and every bride has their own dreams of what they want it to be like so it makes sense that many women would enjoy having multiple gowns for their big day.  Some choose to have a second gown for their reception that is much easier to celebrate in or fall in love with multiple gowns so they find a way to wear them both. Whatever the reason, make sure it is the right decision for you and you won’t regret it.

If you are wearing multiple gowns because of tradition or culture, most of this post won’t apply.

Why are you wearing a second (or third or fourth) gown?

Do you want something more comfortable for your reception?  Are your settings for ceremony and reception dramatically different? Are you having a second celebration (reception, open house) on a different day? Do you just want two different looks (sexy mermaid and fun loving ballgown)?

A second gown could definitely work for you then! Those are all valid reasons for purchasing two gowns! Check out some of these dramatic differences in these Sareh Nouri gowns!

Image result for sareh nouri esme

Are you torn between two gowns and think it will just be easier to get both?

If this is true then I would advise against it. Making a choice is hard and it can be quite the process for some brides, but the choice is worth it. Never settle until you have found the gown you adore!

If you spend money on a second gown will you have the resources to make them both fantastic?

Make sure you don’t stretch yourself too thin as far as funds. You want both gowns to be equally beautiful so be sure that it is in your budget to not only purchase, but also alter both gowns.  Our in house alteration does amazing work! Check out these before and after photos and more about our modest gowns here.

Do you want a “gown” for your second dress?

If you are going super casual for your reception after a formal ceremony or having a low-key open house a week after your wedding then you might consider a sun dress or a simple wedding gown that will cost less and fit the occasion a bit better.  An option like a pantsuit might also fit a more casual occation. This one by Rebecca Schoneveld is one of my favorites!

LucasJumpSuit$-173.jpg

LucasJumpsuitBack$-175.jpg

Do you want separate gowns or a transforming gown?

Consider a two piece gown! Two piece gowns are not only trendy, but comfortable and versatile as well. Having a two piece with different looks might fit your idea for your wedding! My personal favorites are by Mikaella! These gowns have a beautiful fit and incredible comfort! Come in to try them on!

We hope that some of these tips have helped with your decision about having multiple gowns for your special day! Its a hard choice for sure! If you loved some of the gowns you have seen in this post give us a call or book an appointment online so we can help you find the designer dress of your dreams! Gowns for All Shapes and Sizes!

Size Inclusive Bridal!

Bridal Sizing is Crazy! Let us Help!

Let’s get right to it! Bridal sizing is tricky and unfortunately for everyone, more often than not a gown will not fit you perfectly when you try it on.  This is true for small brides, tall brides, brides with curves, and brides without. We do our best to be size inclusive so we can help you find the gown of your dreams, but sometimes we can fall a bit short.

At Bitsy, we try to keep a wide range of styles and designers for every bride, but unfortunately we cannot carry every size of each gown in our salon.  We understand the frustration of the gown not zipping, or having to look beyond the numerous clips. Its rough. As a store we are trying our best to accommodate more brides of all sizes. This includes bringing in our new designer Rebecca Schoneveld and her inclusive bridal line!

43C. London Side-Rebecca Schoneveld-2-127.jpg

Noel_Bridal_Top_Long_Sleeves_Embroidered_Front 1-Rebecca Schoneveld-2-50.jpg

Rebecca designs all of her gowns with all sizes in mind to ensure everyone looks amazing on their wedding day! All of her gowns are gorgeous in person and have an amazing quality!

Slowly but surely the wedding industry is becoming more inclusive for brides of all shapes and sizes, because everyone deserves to feel beautiful on their special day!  Unfortunately there are still some hurdles to jump through for some brides. Here are a couple tips to make your bridal experience as stress free as possible!

©RachelGomezPhotography-RS2018-look19-2.jpg

For “Plus Sized” Brides:

Keep in mind that some shops, especially those with a higher price point, might not have your size in stock of a specific gown. At our boutique if a gown catches your eye that too small for you we will do our best to give you an idea of how it will fit on you when it comes in your size. We know its difficult to imagine sometimes, but we will try our best!

Don’t settle! Your dream dress is out there and don’t just settle for a gown you hate simply because the sample fits. You deserve your dream dress just like every other bride!

Understand how designers work. Some designers may have to alter the pattern of the gown to accommodate a larger figure. Sometimes they have to charge extra to do this. This is purely because it takes some time and they want to make sure the proportions are perfect for you so you look your best.

©RachelGomezPhotography-RS2018-look2-17.jpg

For Tall Brides:

Keep in mind that most wedding gowns are sized on 5′ 8″ models, so if you are that height or taller know that the proportions aren’t quite right in any sample by any designer.

If you want to wear heels, let your stylist know! Sometimes a designer can add a couple complimentary inches to your gown, but other times they might charge for a extra length. We want to help you find the gown of your dreams in you budget and will take the desire for extra length into consideration.

5a.Rebecca_Schoneveld_Briana_Top_Shannon_Skirt-11.jpg

For Petite Brides:

The problems that plague tall brides also plague shorter and smaller brides as well. Again, this is because gowns are sized on 5′ 8″ models it brings problems for those who are significantly shorter than that size.  Hems can get expensive especially if the dress has an intricate pattern or lace.  Designers and seamstresses have a solution though called hollow to hem.

Hollow to hem is much like when you have a picture online and you drag the corner in to shrink it, keeping the proportions; but for a dress! It can be beneficial for both tall and short brides, but much like all problems a bride will face it will cost a bit extra.

Talk to your stylist and let them know if you are planning to wear heels or are concerned about losing patterns in the dress due to hem. They love to help you out and will do their best to show you how amazing you will look!

Wedding gowns are tricky business and we want to make is a stress free and fun as we can! We hope that with our new size inclusive designer we can help everyone feel amazing on their special day! Our Bride Katya

Meet our Bitsy Bride, Katya.

This stunning bride from BYUI wore Idella by Kelly Faetanini. Her gown is one modest masterpiece. The delicate lace skirt was left untouched, but the top is a customized work of art.

This gown began as sleeveless with a v-neckline and matching back. The mesh back of the gown is left unlined to give a natural skin look and the intricate beading tapers off just before the straps begin.

Take a look at how this gown started.

modest

modest
Photos by Kelly Faetanini

Katya lined the entire bodice with matching ivory satin and created a small cap sleeve to create a temple-ready look. She raised the v-neckline and matched the back, but kept the integrity of the original wedding dress design. We added more lace buttons on the back to follow along the raised bodice. We hand-beaded the new additions to the bodice to finish the look.

Alisha Hammond did an amazing job at capturing all of the beautiful and seamless detailing we used in her photography!

Schedule an appointment to see this gown, or discuss what we can do to make your modest dream come true.

March: Dress of the Month

Is This Your Dress?

Showcasing a one of a kind gown from Elaya Vaughn!!

Welcome Back Ladies!!

This month we are showcasing a dress that really stands apart from the rest! We say that about every gown, I know, but this one is definitely one of a kind. This beautiful shoot was done by Kristina Curtis.

This gown has a gorgeous mocha color that makes it stand a part from your standard ivory dress. This gown also reminds me of a Greek Goddess, and this look is elevated by the addition of gold jewelry and headband. It’s exotic nature really separates it from your standard look. If you are looking for something other than your standard ivory dress, check out our post about Bridal Colors to find something unique to you!

The asymmetrical off the shoulder is so chic and dynamic and adds to the exotic look of the gown.  I really admire the risks that this gown takes and how it pushes boundaries on what is standard for wedding dresses. If you’re looking for something a little more traditional than this piece check out our highlight of Kenneth Winston, who takes classic to another level!

Romantic Blush!

“You’re making me blush!”

White is alright, think pink!

Ivory and white are gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but lately colored gowns are in! Champagne, mocha, cashmere, blue, black, and blush are dazzling colors that can take the cake!

Blush is a trendy and sophisticated statement that can elevate the femininity of a gown and personalize your dress.  What’s fantastic about it is that even in the photos the delicate pink undertones don’t flash or scream at the audience. It just whispers “I’m fun, I’m unique”. This is a beautiful Tara Keely design! They have an outstanding and fun dramatic style that definitely stand apart from the crowd. Check out our other fantastic designers here!

This bride totally rocked this dazzling color and made it her own! This romantic look is balanced with the delicate and fresh decor. Thanks to Stephanie Lorraine for the amazing photos!

When it comes to a gown, what ultimately matters is that you love it, and a dash of color might bring you head over heels for the gown of your dreams!
