Thinking of Wearing Multiple Gowns for Your Big Day?
Here are a few tips from us!
Every wedding is different and every bride has their own dreams of what they want it to be like so it makes sense that many women would enjoy having multiple gowns for their big day. Some choose to have a second gown for their reception that is much easier to celebrate in or fall in love with multiple gowns so they find a way to wear them both. Whatever the reason, make sure it is the right decision for you and you won’t regret it.
If you are wearing multiple gowns because of tradition or culture, most of this post won’t apply.
Why are you wearing a second (or third or fourth) gown?
Do you want something more comfortable for your reception? Are your settings for ceremony and reception dramatically different? Are you having a second celebration (reception, open house) on a different day? Do you just want two different looks (sexy mermaid and fun loving ballgown)?
A second gown could definitely work for you then! Those are all valid reasons for purchasing two gowns! Check out some of these dramatic differences in these Sareh Nouri gowns!
Are you torn between two gowns and think it will just be easier to get both?
If this is true then I would advise against it. Making a choice is hard and it can be quite the process for some brides, but the choice is worth it. Never settle until you have found the gown you adore!
If you spend money on a second gown will you have the resources to make them both fantastic?
Make sure you don’t stretch yourself too thin as far as funds. You want both gowns to be equally beautiful so be sure that it is in your budget to not only purchase, but also alter both gowns. Our in house alteration does amazing work! Check out these before and after photos and more about our modest gowns here.
Do you want a “gown” for your second dress?
If you are going super casual for your reception after a formal ceremony or having a low-key open house a week after your wedding then you might consider a sun dress or a simple wedding gown that will cost less and fit the occasion a bit better. An option like a pantsuit might also fit a more casual occation. This one by Rebecca Schoneveld is one of my favorites!
Do you want separate gowns or a transforming gown?
Consider a two piece gown! Two piece gowns are not only trendy, but comfortable and versatile as well. Having a two piece with different looks might fit your idea for your wedding! My personal favorites are by Mikaella! These gowns have a beautiful fit and incredible comfort! Come in to try them on!
